Argentina’s Fuzion Triumphs in Quebec

After spending a few months in Argentina’s varied wine countries in the north, one thing became crystal clear to us:  the quality of wines in San Juan, Cafayate and Mendoza at the $10-$15 per bottle price point is staggering.  Above that price, fine Argentinian wines definitely deserve a seat at the table of the best New World wines (if you want to read more about them, click here).  But even more impressive is that below $10, there are a remarkable number of accessible and tasty wines being produced.  Perhaps nobody has caught onto …

Decanter, carafe, or pitcher… the shapes and primary purpose of each might be is different, but they all add a unique and interesting visual element to drinking and serving wine.  By separating the wine from the bottle, the SIGHT sense can be easily manipulated and played with to enhance the experience of enjoying a glass of wine.

Cafayate – it’s Not Just for Torrontes Anymore

Okay, I’ll start by saying the vineyards around Cafayate (pronounced in Argentina as “Caf-a-zjah-tay”) do produce the finest torrontes in Argentina, ergo, the world.  And with most bottles at the same price point as entry level gruner veltliners and vinho verdes, torrontes is a nice change for a run-of-the-mill, weeknight bottle.  One exceptional example of a showcase torrontes is made by San Pedro de Yacochuya… but I digress…
